Description
The Melrose Running Club is a fun, social, supportive group of runners located in Melrose, Massachusetts. The club was formed in 1996 with the charter to make a positive contribution to our community while promoting the sport of running. Although the ability of members varies from the new runner just developing a routine to the seasoned veteran training for their next marathon, each runner shares in the joy of running and the camaraderie that comes with running as part of a club. If you're looking for someone to run with meet us any Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the Melrose Knights of Columbus!
Walk to Run
MRC's Walk to Run is a 10-week course that provides a foundation for new runners. Modeled after nationally-recognized training plans, the program helps participants develop endurance to run continuously for 30 minutes by the end of ten weeks. Throughout the program, MRC members will provide articles and tips on running techniques, shoe selection, nutrition, and other aspects of running to support participants. ***NOTE*** Participants should be in good physical health. Applicants should be capable of walking continuously for 30 minutes and are encouraged to prepare themselves with eight days of pre-program walking: 20 minutes for the first four days and 30 minutes for the remaining four. Please consult your physician before starting any exercise program.
