Dear Friends,
Welcome to our fundraising page! Nana’s Chicks are participating in the Miracles in Motion, which is raising money for Johns Hopkins Children's Center. By supporting our team, you will be supporting patient- and- family-centered care, education, and research efforts for the more than 100,000 patients seen at Johns Hopkins Children's Center each year. The funds you donate to our team will be used to support the Johns Hopkins Children's Pediatric Oncology Program.
We are walking to celebrate my granddaughter, Vivie, was officially declared "cancer free" in February 2024 - she is a true “Miracle in Motion”! This year she will compete in the Critter Crawl as a participant on the Nana’s Chicks team! At the age of 19 months in 2019, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma with tumors in her hips, sternum, adrenal gland and other spots. She was not able to walk due to the pain from the tumors. For me (Nana), going through my grandchild’s cancer diagnosis for was more difficult than going through my cancer diagnosis. My heart ached to see Vivie go through the challenges of cancer treatment, in addition to seeing my son, daughter-in-law, and older granddaughter cope with the challenges of Vivie’s cancer. A childhood cancer diagnosis impacts all members of a family and extended family.
I am so thankful to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Oncology Team who provided excellent medical care as well as physical and emotional support to my "chicks". This fundraiser is one way you and I can help to support all the future Nana’s and their "chicks" as they go through the struggles and trauma of childhood cancer. I believe most Nanas, Grammies, Nonas, Omas, Go-Moms, Babcias or grandmother by any other name would try to move heaven and earth to ease the pain and trauma of cancer their all their babies (adult and child). Please consider making a donation to our page to improve the lives of childhood cancer patients and families receiving care at Johns Hopkins Children's Center!
Thank you!
Sue Neumann (Nana)
