Dear All,

This year, my colleague Meredith Wieck and I are competing (?) in the the Malibu Triathlon. Meredith will be competing in the swim because she is a superstar, and I will by trying to complete the ride and run.

In years past, the race benefitted CHLA, for which we raised a bunch of money long before my stepson Sam was ever the beneficiary of their amazing care. 

This year all donations go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which provides support to people with disabilities so they can pursue physical fitness and various athletic endeavors. If you have ever seen a racer affix a prosthetic leg to start running or watched a paraplegic on a recumbent bike make their way up the hill near Leo Carrillo State Beach using only their arms, you know why this organization is so vital and so cool.
