STOMP The Monster™ is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization started by Seth Grumet, a man battling cancer. While
training for his second Ironman Triathlon, Seth began to have unusual fatigue and shortness of breath. An hour after
his first CT scan, the doctor’s office called and requested to see Seth immediately. On Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 at
11:48am, Seth called his beautiful wife, Margie and asked her to drive him to see the doctor –
“I just needed her to be there. I got to the doctor's office and
he didn't pull any punches– ‘You have a tumor in your chest
about this big (his fist)’...and that is about all I heard.
He talked tomywife, but I didn't hear anything.
‘This can't be...notme. I amhealthy, I take care ofmyself...
this just can't be...’”
After tests and surgeries to provide viable samples of
the tumor growing in his chest, the diagnosis was in;
Seth was battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Seth was enjoying life, just like you and me,
yet his world was turned upside down in the blink of an eye.
“Tellingmy childrenwas not easy. My oldest,Mariah (13), after a fewconversations
was nervous, but understood. My youngest, Stevie (7),was too young to
understand, so I just told him‘Daddymight not feel good for a fewmonths.’
Maddy (10),mymiddle child, digested the infomywife and I gave her
and then said ‘Dad, your Cancer is theMonster under the floorboard...
You just have to STOMP IT OUT!!’ Iwas blown away.”
Seth has been through the very difficult diagnosis of cancer, extensive tests, surgeries, chemotherapy, and two stem
cell transplants. He has been fortunate to have the support of family and friends during this crucial time. But while
going through countless treatments and doctor appointments, he met many people in the same situation, who
unfortunately did not have the same type of support system. Seth quickly becamemotivated tomake a difference in
these people’s lives and founded STOMP The Monster. Since its inception, STOMP The Monster has helped
countless cancer patients, their families, and caregivers when they need it most – during their fight with the
disease. STOMP The Monster assists with things like providing gift cards for gas and groceries, arranging taxi
transportation to and from appointments, providing financial assistance for medication needs, working to get utility
bills waived, and helping with Medigap payments to keep treatments going.
