Being a neighborhood grocery store is about more than just selling groceries. It’s also about being good neighbors, every day, in every Trader Joe’s neighborhood. Through our Neighborhood Shares Program, we are able to provide nourishment to our neighbors, every day, in every store, by proudly donating 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to be enjoyed to local non-profit organizations. Nearly 80% of products donated through the Neighborhood Shares Program are items such as produce, entrees (salads, sandwiches, soups, etc.), bakery, proteins, dairy, and eggs.

Every Trader Joe’s store manages its own Neighborhood Shares Program, partnering with non-profit organizations that do important work in our neighborhoods across the country. We are committed to being good neighbors, and work with a variety of community-based non-profit partners that share our goals of nourishing our neighbors in meaningful and intentional ways.

We regularly hear from our partners just how impactful the food and products they receive from Trader Joe’s helps to sustain and transform the communities they serve. Here are just a few examples of feedback we’ve received from these partners in 2025:
