MY WHY — FROM DANNY MENDOZA, RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS AIRMEN (USAFR)
This April, I’ll be joining Tough Ruck 26.2 Boston, an elite group of 1,000 ruckers who march to honor America’s Fallen Military & First Responders. We complete a full marathon carrying weighted rucksacks and, more importantly, the names of the Fallen on our backs — a reminder that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Tough Ruck is the only ruck partnered with the Boston Marathon, and finishers earn the official Boston Marathon medal in recognition of the mission and the miles.
As a Religious Affairs Airman in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, I’ve walked alongside Warriors in their highest moments and their darkest valleys. I’ve prayed with them, supported their families, and witnessed firsthand the cost of service — not just on the battlefield, but long after the uniform comes off.
For me, this ruck isn’t just an event. It’s a commitment.
Every mile is a tribute.
Every step is a promise.
Every name on my ruck is a life I refuse to let fade.
Your support helps provide critical assistance to our Warriors and their families — counseling, emergency aid, and programs that remind them that this nation still stands with them. Your donation isn’t just generosity… it’s legacy.
Thank you for helping me honor the Fallen, support the living, and ruck with purpose.
