Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida, especially the Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach area and left a path of destruction that will take years to recover from. Apex Promoz will be hosting this event in conjunction with the Collaboratory and United Way to support this community in need. The Collaboratory is a local nonprofit in the heart of downtown Fort Myers that works with other non-profits to provide resources for the community. The Collaboratory has partnered with United Way in their relief efforts so that all of the local relief agencies have adequate resources and funding to support the people in need.
We hope this event creates a fun way to contribute to a community that needs our help. One of the owners of Apex Promoz is a former resident of Fort Myers and moved just four months prior to landfall of Hurricane Ian. We at Apex have a direct connection to this community and many of our friends, neighbors and former colleagues are hurting right now. We hope that you will join us in a fun virtual event to help provide for the residents of Southwest Florida.
We have set-up a virtual run which will allow you to participate in this event wherever you are. We are also taking donations so that anyone that wants to contribute beyond the race registration fee is welcome to do so. Our goal is to raise $5,000 over the next few months to be distributed to the Collaboratory.
