Description

The Ann Arbor YMCA welcomes you to the 2024 Y-TRI ! This indoor in-person race is perfect for first timers, those looking to have fun and those looking for a little competition. The proceeds from this event will go toward providing financial scholarships that enable all members of the community to enjoy Y programming such as overnight and summer day camp, childcare and access to Y facilities. Want to support, but don't want to race? No problem, we have other options! We would love for you to volunteer and you can always make a donation on our website: Donation
*If your business is interested in sponsoring this event, please click here or email jbaca@annarborymca.org
The Y-TRI will consist of a timed 15-minute swim (tallying total lengths completed), timed 25-minute indoor bike (tallying total distance) and a timed-20 minute treadmill run (tallying total distance). Collegiate athletes will have five minutes of transition time in between each event. Public waves will have 10 minutes of transition time in between swim and bike and five minutes for remainder of events. Participants must be in the family pool area 10 minutes prior to designated wave start time to receive mandatory safety brief and instructions for the event. Failure to receive safety briefing prior to wave start will result in participant being moved to a later wave that has space if available.
  • Each wave will have 12 participants. Wave start times are selected by the participant during the registration process.
  • Participants interested in getting to know our Schwinn bikes, facility, or to receive pointers in the pool - we are hosting a series of workshops for you! Follow this link to register. Training workshops for bikes will be added, as well as an open house event one week prior to the race for those wanting a brief overview of the facility and equipment. Emails will be sent to participants at a later date regarding these opportunities.
  • Each participant will receive a swim cap and event t-shirt (if registered prior to 2/13/2024). The top three participants in collegiate, public competitive and public general categories will be awarded following the closing of their final waves. Award ceremony to be held in Ann Arbor YMCA gymnasium.
    • Due to space constraints, spectators will not be able to watch the triathlon in its entirety, but are welcome to cheer on their athletes during the swimming portion of the triathlon from the comfort of our natatorium benches, and wait for the conclusion of the race and award ceremony in the gymnasium (light snacks and refreshments will be available).
  • Food and refreshments will be provided for triathlon participants.
  • In the event of inclement weather or pool mechanical issues, the event will be rescheduled.
