Practice with Purpose!
Practice With Purpose!
The New Jersey Youth Chorus (NJYC) invites you to support our singers in the 2025 Practice Challenge — a month-long event that celebrates dedication, growth, and giving back. From November 10 to December 12, singers across all NJYC ensembles will set personal practice goals, track their minutes, and raise funds to benefit both NJYC programs and our community partner, LINC: Linking Initiative for Neighborhood Change, a local organization addressing food insecurity right here in New Providence.
Each minute practiced strengthens our singers’ skills, builds confidence, and creates lasting impact. A portion of all proceeds will go directly to LINC, while the rest will help NJYC continue providing transformative choral experiences, musical education, and service opportunities for young voices across New Jersey.
To kick off the challenge, NJYC and LINC will also host a community food drive, giving families a hands-on way to make a difference while supporting their singer’s goals.
Join us in cheering on our singers as they raise their voices — and their impact — for a great cause!
Race Info
The NJYC Practice Challenge runs from Monday, November 10 through Friday, December 12 and encourages singers to practice with purpose.
Each singer will set weekly practice goals based on their ensemble:
- Primo Coro: 60 minutes/week
- Sola Voce & Cor Amici: 75 minutes/week
- Coriste & Camerata: 90 minutes/week
Throughout the month-long challenge, singers will log their minutes, grow as musicians, and invite family and friends to sponsor their dedication. Together, our singers will strengthen their skills, support one another, and give back to their community.
Challenge Info
In addition to reaching the practice goals associated with their designated ensemble, each student’s fundraising goal is to raise $100, with 10% of total proceeds donated to LINC: Linking Initiative for Neighborhood Change. LINC is an organization based in New Providence that combats food insecurity through local food distribution, community gardens, and neighborhood partnerships.
The remaining funds from this fundraiser will support NJYC’s mission: to provide exceptional choral experiences, music education, and leadership development to young singers while fostering community connection through song.
This year’s challenge launches alongside a co-occurring food drive with LINC, inviting families to contribute non-perishable items at rehearsals throughout the challenge period.
The entire challenge is a beautiful way to see the harmony between practice, purpose, and community action in motion.
