1200 YARDS - 2 loop course
The swim will take place in Cross Lake and is an in-water start. The course is a clockwise 2 loop swim. The finish area is on a large concrete boat ramp. The swim course will close 60 minutes after the send-off of the last swimmer. Historically the water temp average is in the 80's. According to USA Triathlon regulations 4.4, if the water temp is 84F or above, wet suits will not be allowed.
SWIM RULES AND REGULATIONS
•The use of wetsuits will be determined in accordance with USAT Competitive Rule 4.4: Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USAT up to and including a water temperature of 78º F. When the water temperature is greater than 78º F, but less than 84º F, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wetsuit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84º F. Any swimmer wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5mm shall be disqualified.
•No fins, paddles, or flotation devices of any kind allowed
•Timing Chips must be properly affixed to your ankle.
•Please do not apply sunscreen or Vaseline to areas bearing your race number prior to body marking. Numbers must remain on during the swim.
•Time penalties may be imposed on athletes not behind the official start line 5 minutes prior to the race start.
•Swimmers are required to stay on course. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
•If you require assistance in the swim, you are able to hold on to any lane rope as long you do not make forward progression.
