We are participating in NAMI Will-Grundy's BeACTIVE 5K alongside Bolingbrook Church and the Bolingbrook Serves community engagement ministry to promote mental health awareness and end the stigma surrounding mental illness. We invite you to support this vital cause by walking, donating, volunteering, or sharing this event with others. Together, we can build a community of understanding, compassion, and hope.
In Will County, mental health continues to be a serious concern. In 2021 alone, there were 61 reported suicide cases, a painful reminder of how urgent and necessary this conversation is. Many in our community still face barriers to care—over 7% of residents are uninsured, and people report an average of four poor mental health days per month. In response, local services like the Will County Health Department have expanded their mental health outreach in Bolingbrook, offering critical resources including outpatient counseling and crisis intervention.
By participating in the BeACTIVE 5K, you're not just taking steps for physical health—you’re standing up for those silently battling mental illness. You’re showing them they are not alone.
One verse that inspires this mission is Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Let’s remind one another that there is always hope—and that healing, support, and a better future are possible.
NAMI Will-Grundy's mission is to provide education, support, advocacy, and public awareness so that individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. NAMI is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax-deductible. Federal EIN: 90-0343172
💙 Will you walk with us? Will you help us spread the message? Every step, every dollar, every conversation makes a difference.
