I am running the Maine Half Marathon to raise money for Fleur de Lis Camp Circle Week.
Fleur de Lis Camp’s Circle Week is a free week of overnight summer camp for girls who have experienced the death of a parent. Circle Week integrates traditional overnight camp activities and fun with the opportunity to do some “grief work” in a safe and caring setting, under the guidance of an experienced Grief Team, surrounded by supportive peers.
Fleur de Lis Camp Circle is near to my heart because I attended multiple summers of Circle Week. Through the care and compassion of the volunteers and staff, me and other girls were given a safe haven to feel our grief. I remember the first summer I attended circle week we arrived as nervous strangers unsure what the week ahead would have in store and left was a tightly bonded community that supported each other through the highs and lows of the week. We learned from each other, laughter together, cried together, and grieved together. If you can, please consider donating any amount or sharing with your friends and family!
