I’d like to do my community proud and participate in another one of these swim, bike, run thingeys. This time I will compete for Ohana One, a non-profit that allow surgeons (mentors) to train other surgeons (mentees) remotely using smart glasses.
This last year, in August, I went to Mozambique on a medical mission and saw firsthand the amazing work this charity performs. Ohana One is in 48 countries and performs procedures remotely as well as having established long term relationships with hospitals in Mozambique going there on these missions.
One surgeon is able to give care to over 10,000+ patients in a lifetime. So by having mentors consistently train plastic surgeons in places like Mozambique where there are only THREE in a country of 30 Million they can go on to train many more. This technology enables long term change instead of a band-aid solution.
I had surgery right after the last Triathlon I did in May 2021, so this will be special. It was less to do with damage done in the race but falling off my bike during my preparation, and aggravating a pre-existing injury - acetabular impingement resulting in a torn labrum.
The road to recovery has been long and I’m so happy to persevere and get back out there. Love you all lots and hopefully see you on the course ?! Xx
