Very excited to be registered for the 2nd Annual HeeganSTRONG team participation for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation run/walk on September 29th in memory of my uncle, John Heegan:
My uncle was a 10 year FDNY firefighter, including work as a 9/11 first responder.
He was a member of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Chief.
He was a handyman, and the go-to when you "needed a guy" because he really could do it all, and on the rare occasions when he wasn't "THE guy," he aways "knew a guy."
He was so cool, happy go lucky, and fun to be around, that I grew up calling him "the dude."
He was a lacrosse coach, a mentor, a Lions Clubs International member, a self-starter.
His craftsmanship extended beyond his own home on Long Island and his work can be seen throughout the state of NY and as far away as Florida!
But his biggest accomplishment was that of the relationship he gave to others as a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, cousin, colleague, neighbor, community member, and friend.
My uncle John Heegan passed away after sudden cardiac arrest in 2023, leaving a gaping hole which we all continue to try to fill with good memories, family, friends, and togetherness - as best as we can. One way we chose to honor him TOGETHER last year, just a month after his passing was by participating in the Tunnel to Towers Foundation run/walk in NYC where over 120 people joined our HeeganSTRONG team and we raised over $36,000 in his memory. This community has since become its own non profit, HeeganSTRONG Foundation.
This year, WE'RE DOING IT AGAIN! Our team is open to anyone who would like to join us in participation and/or offer a tax-deductible donation in his memory. We'd love to have you! You can sign up or donate here:
