Why I Fundraise: The Four Ks
We were always “The Four Ks” — Kim, Kelly, Kay, and Keith. My siblings and I were inseparable, bound by love, laughter, and music.
When Keith spent five months in the hospital battling lymphoma, music became his lifeline. I’ll never forget the first trio of musicians who came to his room — their harmonies brought him to tears. In his final weeks, music gave him strength and even led to one magical moment where he sang with us one last time.
My mom, who passed away just three months ago, was also visited by a Musicians On Call volunteer during her own hospital stay. She lit up with joy at the unexpected music — Elvis, Sinatra, and her favorite country songs. And my dad, a songwriter and musician himself, would have believed deeply in this work.
That’s why I’m supporting WXPN Musicians On Call. Each week, volunteers bring the healing power of music to patients, families, and caregivers in nine local hospitals. They go room to room with live performances, host virtual concerts, and even share curated playlists and music tablets so patients can have music whenever they need it.
Music has carried my family through joy and through heartbreak. I’m fundraising in honor of Keith, my mom, and my dad — and for all the families who need music’s comfort at the bedside. Please join me by supporting my campaign.
