In 2019 I became a bereaved dad for the first time, to our second child, a daughter, Hannah Kathleen. My world, faith and everything I believed shifted that day...I grew angry, bitter, resentful to the one who created her and took her and then to those around me. Almost 6 years later, the Lord is still working on my heart and healing me slowly day by day. In the spring of 2023, I felt God urging Brittany and me to make Out of the Ashes our full time career, I resisted at first and then dove in. The desire in my heart is that no bereaved dad or mom has to do this alone, that instead of immediate isolation, they would have a community supporting them. This community would be rooted with believers and fellow bereaved parents who had wrestled with all the questions that come with losing a child so young. My prayer is this 6th annual remembrance walk and race will be a place of refuge and healing for so many that need this community desperately.

My other prayer is that the money raised at this years event will help us to support more bereaved families, with the ultimate vision that no family who walks through infertility or loses a child to pregnancy or infancy will have to do it alone!
