When I started at Touro in November 2024, I knew it as “the place where babies come from” and the place where I had knee surgery and PT in 2009.
What I didn't know was that Touro started in 1852 so that Jewish doctors could practice without facing discrimination. I didn't know that Touro started its own nursing school in 1896. I didn't know that Touro was the first hospital to reopen - in 28 days - after Hurricane Katrina decimated our region. I didn't know that the Touro Foundation provides rides to patients with cancer seeking treatment. I didn't know that the Foundation provides car seats to new families in need at our Family Birthing Center.
What I know now, is that this hospital is a vital part of New Orleans. I know now that our community depends on Touro for compassionate care and medical expertise. I know now that every time you walk the halls you will be greeted with warmth and a smile.
I'm so proud to be the Director of Philanthropy for the Touro Infirmary Foundation. I hope you will consider supporting Team Touro for the 2026 Crescent City Classic.
