Dear Wet Doggers,
Public Service Announcement:
We have been waiting (like many others) on word from Governor Ivey and our local leaders about the fate of Wet Dog. As it stands right now, the Morgan County Health Task Force has advised me that they will not be able to grant me permission to hold Wet Dog until after Governor Ivey makes another decision about the crowd ban in mid May. They also advised me that even if she lifts the ban in May, Point Mallard will not be ready by June 13th. It is with the heaviest heart that y'all can even imagine, that at this point I have no choice but to cancel Wet Dog for this year. I'm afraid to even postpone it because I have no idea when things will be considered safe this summer at all. If you have already registered for Wet Dog and wish to receive your registration fee back, we will be issuing refunds, you must email our accounting person, Jill at email@example.com to request it. I'm not going to promise that we will get them out in the next week, but we are definitely going to try our very best, we are owed some grant money by the state and if it comes in you will be the first refunded. If you want to donate your registration to Mosaic, it is considered 100% tax deductible and we would appreciate the donation very much (as we are losing thousands of dollars by cancelling the Dog) and we will gladly send you a charitable donation receipt for tax purposes.
My heart is broken...you know how much I love the Dog and I promised all of you last year that I would never let it die under my watch again...I've tried my very best to keep that promise but I simply cannot put any one of you or our volunteers in harms way. Shoot...let's not even think that he's dead, he's just got COVID-19 and is under orders to take it easy this year.
Wet Doggers are the ABSOLUTELY best people in the world. Any of you that know me, which most of you do, know how much I appreciate and love y'all and the support that you have given us throughout the years. I'm sorry, I truly am, but we will overcome and see you in 2021!! AND WE WILL HAVE CAKE!!
All my love!!
