Swim Course
- The swim is a 300-yard pool swim held in the UNCW Natatorium.
- Athletes will start on one side of the pool and “snake” up and down each lane, progressing toward the opposite end.
- Because this is a pool swim, all participants must submit an estimated 100-yard swim time during registration.
- These times are used for seeding, so it is important to be as accurate as possible.
- Submitting a time that is too fast may result in faster swimmers needing to pass you, while submitting a time that is too slow may require you to pass others frequently.
- Accurate seed times help ensure a safe and efficient swim for all participants.
- Swim caps are not provided for this event. If you choose to wear one, please bring your own.
- Additional details regarding the swim start procedure will be shared closer to race day.
Bike Course
- The bike course consists of a 6-mile loop that participants will complete twice.
- The course is flat and travels through the UNCW campus and surrounding neighborhood roads.
- Roads will remain open to traffic. While traffic is typically light, athletes must remain alert, obey all traffic laws, and ride safely at all times.
Run Course
- The 5K run is an out-and-back course that travels through the UNCW campus using its extensive sidewalk system.
- Athletes will pass key campus landmarks, including Campus Commons, the Amphitheater, and Chancellor’s Walk, before reaching the turnaround near the UNCW water tower.
- The course is flat and moderately shaded.
Transition Area (TA) and Finish
- Only athletes are allowed in the transition area.
- When entering/exiting the TA before or after the race, use the large inflatable labled "TA Entrance/Exit".
- Due to multiple start times, some athletes will be staging in the TA, while others are racing. It is important to have self awareness while in the TA.
- Spectators are not allowed in the TA.
- Relay Team members may enter the TA through large TA inflatable and stage at numbered bike rack.
- Spectators may view from the pool, aside the TA, and the finish line.
