Cancelled for 2020, WE WILL BE BACK IN 2021!

In light of recent events, and in order to do our part to help contain and slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, we have decided to cancel this year's Sierra Kids Triathlon.  The safety and health or our athletes, our community, our families, and our country is always our primary concern.

All current registrants will be receiving an email notifying them of the change, and will be given the opportunity for a refund of their race fees.

We hope you will come join us in 2021!

Description

Come join us for the annual Sierra Kids Triathlon, a triathlon race fully dedicated to our youth athletes 17 and under.
This iconic, Clovis based race will once again take place this year at the Alta Sierra School. This race features a pool swim, a flat, looped course for the bike, and an equally flat run course.  Distances per age group are listed below.  The race is sanctioned with the USAT.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Sierra Kids Tri (SKT) is designed to be a friendly and encouraging introduction to the sport of triathlon. Our youngest racers compete with the goal of learning a new sport (or 3 new sports for some!), having fun, and building confidence. As the age groups advance, the teenage divisions become quite competitive, allowing for speed and race tactic development.
The transition is an enclosed area where athletes will have plenty of volunteer support. There are NO PARENTS ALLOWED IN TRANSITION. (Exceptions made for our Under 6 athletes). We will have a FREE transition clinic hosted by Triathlon Club Of Central California (TC3) on April 11th at 10am at the exact area where transition will be set up: west of the pool on the basketball courts. Participants are encouraged to attend to learn how to set up their transition area, as well as practice their transition plan.
The bike and run course take place within the boundaries of the bike lanes surrounding the school. The course overlaps itself in each of the disciplines so that parents can watch and cheer for their young athletes. The entire course is COMPLETELY flat… we mean like, pancake flat.
All participants are given a color coded bib, swim cap, and wrist band. The color of their race gear matches the color of the arrows and signs that they will follow on course. This helps each different age group to stay on course, and know which signs pertain to them. Maps are also color coded, and will be posted soon.

SWIM COURSE

The swim is in the beautiful Alta Sierra Intermediate pool. This pools has 10 lanes. Swim will be completed split lane style (2 kids per lane) so that each kid has access to the lane dividers if at anytime they feel they need to grab hold for a rest or for safety. The pool is 25 meters long.

BIKE COURSE

The bike course is fully paved. It will follow the bike lane surrounding the school. We have ample volunteers on the bike course to help ensure that all kids make the appropriate turns. All turns are color coded to match each racer’s bib and arm band, so that they can be confident that they are taking the correct turns. There will be no aid stations on the bike course, due to it’s short length. Participants are encouraged to keep a bottle of water on their bike if they think they will need it.

RUN COURSE

The run course combines elements of the sidewalk surrounding the school, as well as the track and finishes on the soccer fields. All turns will be color coordinated with each racer’s bib and wrist band so that they are sure that they are making the correct turns. There will be lots of volunteers on course to ensure kids are making the appropriate turns and staying on course. There will be one water station on the run course.

Age Groups will be as follows:
