The Grapes of Wrath Triathlon is a fast and fun race in the central valley located east of Delano, CA. This event features a lake swim in Lake Woollomes, a fast and flat road bike course, and a run which is part trail and part paved finishes the race. Each athlete registered for the Grapes of Wrath Triathlon will receive a custom t-shirt, athlete goody bag, swim cap, post-race meal, and be eligible for raffle prizes and race awards three-deep in each division. Take the weekend and come up and enjoy this fun event with your family.

Note:
A USAT membership is required for the Triathlon, (but not the 5k/10k)  If you do not have one, you can purchase one during the registration process.

COURSE MAPS - 5K RUN

The 5k Course is used in the Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, Sprint Aquathon and 5k Run

COURSE MAPS - 10K RUN

The 10k Course is used in the  Olympic Triathlon, Olympic Aquathon and 10k Run

COURSE MAPS - 10.75 MI BIKE

This bike course is used for both the Sprint and Olympic distances for the triathlon and aquabike.

Sprint distance does one loop of the course (10.75 Mi), Olympic distance does two loops (21.5 Mi).

Transition

Volunteers get a t-shirt, meal, and 50% off of a future multisport event or 100% off of a future 5k/10k. 
(Volunteers must register online and check in before and after their shift)

Volunteer codes are transferable and stackable. 

You can volunteer for two shifts during one event for a free triathlon.

Covid-19 Safety Measures

Your safety is our highest priority. We have included USAT, CDC, and health department recommendations in plans to safely return to racing. 

Packet Pickup and Registration

  • There will be no in person or paper registration. Online registration will remain open until race start.

Race Day

  • Masks will be required before and after the race. Masks will not be required during the event.
  • Athletes will receive a self-evaluation question to help determine if they should stay home or return to racing.
  • Anyone with a temperature of 100.0 F or higher should stay home.
  • Race briefing will be pre-recorded and available online.
  • Bike racks will be spaced with 6 feet between bike racks.
  • Racks will be marked for two Sprint and two Olympic athletes per rack
  • Race will be a rolling time trial with chipped swim start
  • Run will be a time trial start with at least 15 second spacing. Starting time will be recorded as athletes cross the start. 
  • While aid stations will be provided, athletes are encouraged to bring their own water to limit contact
  • All age group awards will be mailed awards
  • Post race food will be pre-packaged for the athlete to take to go

Relay Teams

  • Each athlete on a relay team will be given their own timing chip to eliminate handing off timing chips
  • A line will be drawn within the exchanging area. When the finishing athlete passes this line, the next athlete from the same team starts without any physical contact.

Spectators

  • Spectators are not allowed. Friends and family are encouraged to volunteer or track from home.

Refund Policy Update

  • If an athlete has a fever, suspects Covid symptoms, or is concerned about racing at this time they can defer or transfer their registration to another race.
