Description
The 2025 Fourth of July Run For a Reason will be a 2-mile or 5-mile run/walk supporting the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Foundation (SUDC.org).
The Fourth of July Run for a Reason is a yearly tradition in Orinda, CA, kicking off the city’s July 4th festivities. This year’s event will be hosted by the Frey Family in memory of their son Wesley who passed suddenly and unexpectedly at 17 months old.
Registration for this year’s event will be $30 through RunSignUp.com. Registration will also be available on the day of the event. Shirts will not be included with this year’s registration but we will have shirts available for purchase at the event. For more information on the race and the course options see below.
Additional Race Information
The Fourth of July Run for a Reason will start and finish in front of the Orinda Community Center.
Both the 2 mile and 5 mile races will start at 8am right after the flag raising.
The 2 mile run/walk is an out and back to Manzanita Dr. along Camino Pablo (be careful when crossing Miner Rd. use crosswalk signals).
The 5 mile run/walk course will be marked with orange arrows, it follows the 2-mile route but instead of turning around at Manzanita Dr. continues straight on Camino Pablo. Participants will turn right into the Wagner Ranch School parking lot, follow the parking lot up to Bear Creek Rd, cross Bear Creek Rd and enter the Old San Pablo Trail. Participants should then turn right to cross the bridge and follow the trail through the EBMUD gates. Everyone will turn around at Bear Creek Trail and follow the same trail back through EBMUD land, across Bear Creek Rd, through Wagner Ranch School Parking lot, along the Camino Pablo, back to the Orinda Community Center.
