Maria Pedraza
Maria del Pilar Moreno Pedraza was born in 1944 in Charcas Mexico. She came to America in 1945. She was the eldest daughter, 2nd child of 8. She grew up in La Villa Texas and attended and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1964. She played basketball and was voted “Friendliest” by her classmates. Upon graduation, she moved to Woodville California. She worked in the fields prior to working at Sahovy Market in Plainview as a butcher. She married Martin Pedraza in 1966 and they moved to Plainview California where she resided until her passing in 2012. She had 2 children, Noemi & Martin, and 1 grandchild, Richie, at the time of her passing. After her passing another grandchild was born, Reagan, whom would have been another light in her life.
In 1978 she returned to school and received her Real Estate License and began working as a Real Estate Agent with Letsinger Realty. She worked with Letsinger Realty until her passing in 2012. She passed away in May 2012 at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto from a cancerous brain tumor.
Maria’s love story began in March 1966, at the local hamburger joint called Boll Weevil in Cotton Center, California. She met Martin there and they shared meals together. He proposed to her in May 1966 and they were married in August 1966. It was a short courtship that lasted for almost 46 years, until her passing.
Maria’s pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She loved baking and would bake cookies for her brother who was stationed in Vietnam, serving his country. She would package them up and ship them to him. She helped her mother fixing Thanksgiving Dinner, making hand-made Banana Cream Pies and Pumpkin Pies. She loved cooking and was an excellent cook. Everyone loved her enchiladas, which she would often make them for her co-workers. She loved her family and often thought of her 4 younger siblings as her children. She was a proud grandmother who was always at her grandson’s events, plays, sporting events, driving an hour out of her way to attend. She was unable to meet her latest grandson, but we know that she would have doted on him immensely.
Maria was a faithful woman. Waking up early in the morning and sitting during the quiet of the morning reading her bible. She had a strong prayer life. She was a Prayer Warrior. She taught her family how to trust in God and how to pray. She always thought of others. She was loved and admired by many. She touched many lives throughout her life.
Maria was diagnosed with her malignant brain tumor 5-6 weeks before passing. She lived with constant migraines, but was never diagnosed with a tumor. Very rarely would she let the headaches affect her life. She continually moved forwards. She was very attentive to her family, friends and especially her clients. She always put others first.
