5k runners start time: 9:00 a.m. 

Children on bikes / scooters 5k start time: 8:58 a.m.

RACE MISSION
The Always Wear Your Seatbelt Foundation invites you to join us in raising seatbelt safety awareness at our 10th anniversary 2025 Lace-Up to Buckle-Up 5K Walk/Run. 

This is our only annual fundraising event. 100% of the net proceeds go towards furthering our mission to save lives and minimize injuries through raising awareness and educating teens to Always Wear Your Seatbelt, if not for yourself, for Laura & Eddie. 

AWYS was founded in memory of Laura Grant and Eddie Culberhouse, who lost their lives in a tragic car accident on February 6, 2011. For more information about our story, please visit our website at www.alwayswearyourseatbelt.org

ENTRY FEES*
Adult Entry Fee for In-person or Virtual:
    Thru September 30th = $35.00
    October 1st - October 17th = $40.00
    October 18th  = $45.00

Youth Entry Fee (Ages 13 - 19) for In-person or Virtual:
   Thru September 30th = $20.00
   October 1st - October 17th = $30.00
   Race Day = $35.00

Youth Entry Fee (Ages 7-10) for In-person, Virtual, or Scooters:
   Thru October 18 = $10.00

FREE Youth Entry Fee (0 - 6) for In-person
   Does not include shirt
   Race shirts may be purchased for $8 

   *Virtual & In-Person Entry fees for Adults and Youth paid entries include a unisex super-soft blend race t-shirt, a bib & number. Race     packet shipping for virtual entries.

RACE PACKET PICKUP AND VIRTUAL MAILING INFORMATION AND DEADLINES FOR EVENT

The OneBlood mobile blood donation bus will be onsite at packet pick-up.  Please consider a donation. 

Virtual participants:

You must be registered by October 1, 2025 to guarantee receipt of t-shirt and bib prior to event. 

We cannot guarantee race packets will be received before race day for registrations after October 1, 2025. 

RACE T-SHIRTS
Race t-shirts are guaranteed for registered adults and paid youth until online system indicates "sold out". 

In-person participants must pick up their shirts at packet pick-up or at the event.

RACE DAY AWARDS

1. Top In-person overall male and female finishers 

2. Top 3 male and female finishers from each age bracket

Age brackets: 12 & UNDER,13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 & OLDER

FAQ's:

Is the 5k in-person? 

Yes! We will be in-person in beautiful Belle Isle, with a virtual option for those who can't be with us.

Where do I park? 

Parking is free and available at Cornerstone Charter Academy, nearby businesses, and along neighboring streets.

How do I participate virtually?

When registering, select the VIRTUAL option and complete your registration. 

On race day, choose your own starting line, whether it's your neighborhood street, your school track, a treadmill, or another route that suits you.

Virtual participation is simple with the RACEJOY app!

1. Download the RACEJOY* app
2. Select the AWYS Lace-Up to Buckle-Up 5k Run/Walk
3. Choose where and when to run, track your run with through the app
4. Your results will be automatically uploaded to our site!

How long is the course? The 5K is 3.1 miles.

Will I be timed? Yes! If you are wearing your bib, registered in-person participants are timed electronically. 

How will I get results? The results for in-person participants will be scored and uploaded to the race website as participants cross the finish line and can be viewed under the website tab labeled “Results”.

Who gets a T-shirt? Pre-registered in-person runners who complete their registration and payment process seven weekdays before the race are guaranteed a race t-shirt.  

Virtual race shirts are shipped in accordance with registration completion dates. Virtual registrations after October 1 may not receive their shirts prior to event day.

Sizes are not guaranteed for registrations after October 8th 2025.

What's included with my registration? All pre-registered participants will receive our official 2025 race bib and t-shirt. 

Water, fruit, and give-a-ways from AWYS and sponsors are free onsite.  

Can I transfer my entry to someone else? No. We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.
