USAT Wetsuit Policy
- 60.8°F and lower: Wetsuits are REQUIRED for competitor safety.
- 60.9°F – 78.0°F: Wetsuits are ALLOWED and athletes remain eligible for awards.
- 78.1°F – 83.9°F: Wetsuits are OPTIONAL (competitors who wear a full/sleeveless wetsuit will NOT be eligible for awards).
- 84.0°F and above: Wetsuits are STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Athletes must swim without a full/sleeveless wetsuit to participate.).
NEW FOR 2026 (Buoyancy Shorts / Lava Pants): Under updated USAT rules, neoprene buoyancy shorts and lava pants are permitted at ALL water temperatures (including 78.1°F and above) and athletes remain fully eligible for official awards.
All wetsuit and swimwear guidelines strictly follow official USA Triathlon (USAT) Multisport Competition Rules for local sanctioned events.
