This condition impacts many, whether personally or through loved ones. Gaining knowledge about diabetes is crucial as it enhances quality of life, boosts self-efficacy, fosters empowerment, promotes healthy coping mechanisms, encourages self-care practices, and improves adherence to dietary plans. The upcoming Turkey Trot is a 5k event aimed at raising awareness about diabetes, giving participants the opportunity to highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing and managing the condition. Contributions will support community members battling this illness. The Highlands Foundation aims to initiate a program for individuals with diabetes and prediabetes, focusing on promoting healthy eating, facilitating diabetes support groups, encouraging physical activity, and providing strategies for stress management.
