NICE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in South Nashville. Founded in 2005 by a former refugee from South Sudan, Dr. Gatluak Thach, NICE has been serving New Americans for 20 years in Middle Tennessee. Our mission is to empower refugees & immigrants with resources and opportunities so they can become self-sufficient and thrive for generations to come.
Beyond refugee resettlement, we provide services and programs in adult education, youth education, employment assistance & workforce development, healthcare navigation and education, social services, & immigration application processes. NICE served over 3,200 neighbors in the greater Nashville area in 2025.
NICE relies on community support to sustain programs for our neighbors. A donation of $25 can pay for an hour of English class instruction for an adult student with hope to land a better job to support their family.
