The Blue Ridge Free Clinic provides critical healthcare services to hundreds of members of the Harrisonburg community who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn for assistance. These services include access to insulin and other life-saving medications, physical exams, imaging, and screenings in partnership with Sentara RMH Medical Center, mental health services, and referrals to specialty providers. These services are indispensable for members of our community with unmet healthcare needs.
The Navigation Center, operated by Open Doors, opened in December 2024 and provides year-round overnight shelter for adults experiencing homelessness, as well as daytime drop-in services for the public in the Harrisonburg-Rockingham community. Guests have free access to computers + Wifi, showers, laundry, and resource navigation services including case-management, onsite medical services, and community support. Founded in 2007, Open Doors provides essential shelter and support services for our community.
The JMU Physician Assistant Student Society (PASS) is a student-run, non-profit organization committed to civic and community engagement through service-oriented volunteerism and the promotion of the PA profession. In addition to fundraising for these organizations, JMU PA students gain critical clinical experience and perspective by volunteering through the Student-Engaged Medical Clinic at both the Blue Ridge Free Clinic and the Navigation Center.
This event serves as a vital fundraiser for Open Doors and the Blue Ridge Free Clinic. All net proceeds will directly benefit Open Doors, Blue Ridge Free Clinic, and JMU Physician Assistant Student Society at a rate of (60% OD/20% BRFC/ 20% JMU PASS).
