Event: Sprint Triathlon

Swim:
The Swim will take place in the Tulare Western High School Swimming Pool. Lane lines will be in the pool to create swim lanes. The race will include two waves. More will be added if necessary. The male participants will be in the first wave. The racers seed themselves based on expected swim completion time. There will be slower lanes, regular lanes, and fast lanes. This will be explained at the race meeting at 7:40 a.m. on race day. Please know your estimated time for completing the 400 yards. There will not be more than four swimmers per lane, with a goal of 3 or fewer swimmers per lane. Swimmers will be required to circle swim in the lane unless there are two or fewer swimmers per lane. Slower swimmers should yield to faster swimmers at the ends of the pool, waiting a few seconds for the faster swimmer to overtake them. There will be certified lifeguards on the pool deck. Courtesy lap counters will be located on the east end of each lane. Athletes will complete 16 lengths, or 8 laps, in order to complete the 400 yards of the swim leg. The pool is a 25-yard swimming pool. Swimmers will begin and end on the East end of the pool.

T1 (Transition 1):
Swimmers will exit the pool on the East end, and will exit through the East Gate into the transition area. Once in the transition area, athletes will prepare for the bike leg. Nudity is not allowed in the transition area. Athletes must walk/jog with their bikes inside the transition area. Bikes may be mounted after exiting the transition area. Do not mount the bike before the “Mount” line that will be painted on the ground after the pop-up tent.
Bike:
Cyclists will exit the transition area, mount their bikes, and exit the parking lot on the North side of the parking lot, heading east. Athletes will exit the TWHS parking lot and turn left onto North D St. Cyclists will follow the bend on North D. St. and veer right. Cyclists will then turn left onto North E. St. Athletes will then turn left onto W. Pleasant Ave. and head west. Cyclists will continue on W. Pleasant until they reach the end of W. Pleasant and turn right onto N. Enterprise Ave. There are several controlled intersections on Pleasant Ave. Please ride safely. Athletes will then head North on N. Enterprise Ave. and turn left onto W. Prosperity Ave (Ave. 240). Cyclists will continue until they come to the turn around which will be located at the corner of Ave. 240 and Rd. 68. Racers will NOT cross Rd. 68 or bike on it. An aide station will be located at the turn around. Riders will be required to slow down in order to make the turnaround safely. Cyclists will then continue back to TWHS on the same route they came west on. Race volunteers and/or Police Explorers will be stationed at all major intersections. The bike course will not be a closed course. Traffic must be allowed on the roads during the race according to city and county policy. Cyclists are to ride on the right and pass on the left. Continuous riding side by side is not allowed for safety reasons. Drafting (Riding continuously in the slip stream of a fellow rider in front of you) is not allowed per USAT non-drafting rules. A race SAG vehicle will be available on the course for any emergencies or flats.
T2 (Transition 2):
Cyclists will enter the TWHS parking lot in the North Gate from North D. St. Riders must dismount before crossing the dismount line. Riders will rack their bikes and prepare for the run course. Athletes must exit out the “Run Out” Gate.
Run:
Runners will exit the transition area heading to the south side of the parking lot. Runners will turn left, and head out of the parking lot, turning right onto North D. St. The athletes will then turn right onto W. Maple St. The runners will then turn left onto North B. St. The athletes will continue through the intersection at Cross Ave., and will then turn right onto the Santa Fe trail, heading West. Runners will continue running on the Santa Fe Trail, crossing West St. and continuing on the trail until the turn around at Tulare Ave. Athletes will not cross Tulare Ave. An aide station with water will be available at miles 1, 1 1/2 and 2 of the run course. Runners will continue back to transition on the same course. Runners will complete one lap on the TWHS track. The run course concludes on the track in front of the bleachers. Volunteers and/or Police Explorers will be stationed at all intersections on the run course for safety. Part of the course, before the Santa
Racers
are advised to carry a flat repair kit in case they experience a flat. This
should include a patch kit, a spare tube, and either a pump or CO2 cartridge to
inflate the replacement tube.

Fe Trail section, will be open to traffic. Runners are to stay to the right of the cones for safety reasons when they pass. Run on the right, pass on the left.

Event: Duathlon

Run:
The race will begin on the track by the finish line. Duathlon racers will complete two laps, or 1⁄2 mile, around the track before running to transition.
T1 (Transition 1):

Event: Kids Race

Kids participants will set up in their own transition area, south of the adult transition area. The bikes will be placed on a rack, in a freestanding position with a kickstand, or they may be laid on the ground.
The kids race is a 50 or 100 yard pool swim, 1 mile bike, and 1/2 mile run.
Swim: (Kids Race)
The kids 10 and under will swim 50 yards, two lengths, or one lap, in the swimming pool.
The kids 11-14 will swim 100 yards, four lengths, or one lap, in the swimming pool.
Certified lifeguards will be on the pool deck.
Bike: (Kids Race)
The kid triathlon participants will enter the transition area through the East pool gate and exit out the “Run Out” Gate. The athletes will then head south in the parking lot and then turn to the east. The athletes will then exit the parking lot, turning right onto North D. St. The kids will then turn right onto W. Maple St., and then left on North B. St. The triathletes will turn around before coming to Cross Ave. They will not cross Cross Ave. They will then return along the same route. Volunteers will be located at each intersection.
Run: (Kids Race)
Once the athletes return to the transition area, they will then run to the track and complete one lap, finishing the race in front of the bleachers.
