The Rum Runner

Event Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025
Start Time: 9:30 AM (following the 5K )
Location: Bell Tower Shops
Distance: 1 Mile (4 x ¼ mile loops)
Drinks: 4 x 4 oz tropical rum cocktails (1 before each lap)
🏝️ How It Works
1. Runners will complete four ¼-mile loops, for a total of 1 mile.
2. Before each loop, participants must stop at the Rum Runner Station to enjoy a 4 oz rum punch.
3. After finishing their drink, each runner must turn the cup upside down over their head, then dispose of the cup in the trash cans and head out on the next lap.
4. First one to finish all four loops and drinks will be crowned the official Rum Runner!
🍹 Rum Runner Station Setup
• We will have 4 to 6 tables with pre-filled 4 oz rum punch cocktails at the loop start/finish area.
• Volunteers will be there to serve additional drinks and monitor to ensure each one is fully consumed before continuing.
• Water, shade tents, and hydration stations will be available for recovery and comfort.
🔐 Safety & Rules
• Must be 21+ to participate in the Rum Runner Mile.
• Valid government-issued ID required at packet pickup and again one race day. You will not be permitted to race on race day if you don’t have a valid ID.
• Each cocktail is limited to 4 oz for safety and enjoyment.
• Medical personnel will be onsite for your safety.
• Participants may run just for fun without drinking—but only drinkers will be eligible for awards.
🏆 Awards & Recognition
• Top Male and Female finishers will receive a “Rum & Fun” gift package courtesy of La Ola Surfside Restaurant.
• Tropical attire highly encouraged! Think leis, Hawaiian shirts, beachwear, and flamingo socks—let's make it a vibe!
