How the Indoor Triathlon Works
10-Minute Swim | 30-Minute Bike | 20-Minute Run
The HFP Winter Indoor Triathlon Series is designed to be fun, welcoming, and accessible to athletes of all abilities. Whether you're trying your first triathlon, maintaining your winter fitness, or challenging yourself to improve, this is a great way to experience multisport racing in a comfortable indoor environment.
Unlike traditional triathlons, where athletes complete set distances, you'll have a set amount of time to cover as much distance as you comfortably can in each discipline:
-
Swim – 10 Minutes: Swim laps in the indoor pool at your own pace.
-
Bike – 30 Minutes: Ride a stationary bike and accumulate distance.
-
Run – 20 Minutes: Run, jog, or walk on a treadmill at your preferred pace.
You'll have 10 minutes to transition from swimming to cycling and 5 minutes to transition from cycling to running.
Heat Assignments & Schedule
The Indoor Triathlon will feature seven heats, beginning at 8:00 AM, with a new heat starting every 35 minutes.
During registration, you'll select your preferred heat time. Each heat is limited to just 16 participants, so we encourage you to register early to secure your desired start time!
| Heat No. | Start Time |
|---|---|
| Heat 1 | 8:00 AM |
| Heat 2 | 8:35 AM |
| Heat 3 | 9:10 AM |
| Heat 4 | 9:45 AM |
| Heat 5 | 10:20 AM |
| Heat 6 | 10:55 AM |
| Heat 7 | 11:30 AM |
Each heat takes approximately 75 minutes to complete, including transitions. Participants should arrive early and be ready to begin at their selected heat time.
Space is limited to 112 participants per event. Register early to get the heat time that works best for you!
Heat times are subject to adjustment based on facility logistics. Participants will be notified of any changes before race day.
How Scoring Works
It's about participation, not competition!
During each discipline, we'll record the distance you complete:
-
Swim: Total distance completed in 10 minutes.
-
Bike: Total distance recorded on the stationary bike in 30 minutes.
-
Run: Total distance recorded on the treadmill in 20 minutes.
Your results will reflect your individual distances for each discipline rather than a combined overall score or competitive ranking.
There are no overall awards or age-group awards. The goal is to challenge yourself, celebrate your accomplishment, and enjoy the experience.
Your race. Your pace. Your personal achievement.
Whether you're a first-time triathlete or an experienced athlete staying active through the winter, everyone who completes the event is a finisher!
