What do volunteers do?

Signing up to volunteer at the Harpoon 5-Miler in South Boston is a great way to get involved in your community and support local athletes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a lively, energetic event while raising money for the cure and care of ALS.
We love our Harpoon 5-Miler volunteers and could not produce this race without your support. Race day responsibilities include welcoming runners, bag check, course marshaling, water stop, handing out finisher medals, etc.

Volunteers receive:
✅ Commemorative volunteer t-shirt 🎽
✅ Light breakfast and post-shift refreshments 😋
✅ Two beer tickets 🍺
✅ Access to the post-race dance party with DJ Steve Greco 💃🎉

Volunteers must be 21 years or older to participate, so if you’re eligible, it’s a fun way to give back and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of South Boston!

Where will volunteers check in on race day?

Volunteers will check in at the volunteer support desk located under the white tent. You will then receive your volunteer shirt, your name tag, as well as your race vest. You will be given any specific directions by the volunteer support team on race day.
