Guide to Fundraising

The Walk for Hospice is a special event that brings our community together to remember, honor, and give back while raising vital funds to support compassionate end-of-life care at the Aroostook House of Comfort. Last year, thanks to the heartfelt efforts of our participants, an average of $175 was raised per person, helping us reach a total of $60,000. Your generous contributions make it possible for us to continue providing comfort, dignity, and peace to patients and their families across Aroostook County.

Every gift makes a difference. Whether you are a first-time walker or returning to honor a loved one, we invite you to join us and make this year’s event more impactful! Not sure where to start? We have simple tips to help boost your fundraising and show your support!

  • Set up your fundraising page with a clear, simple message. The people visiting your page are already proud of your commitment! Let them know why you're walking and how their donation helps make a real impact for hospice care in our community.
  • Add a photo to personalize your page. A picture of yourself helps people feel more connected, but if that’s not your style, consider using an image that’s meaningful to you, like a peaceful landscape or a favorite place.
  • Part of a team? Consider setting up a team page to maximize your giving potential!
  • Set a fundraising goal that challenges you. A clear goal not only motivates you but also shows your supporters the impact their donations can make. Every contribution adds up, and together with fellow walkers and generous sponsors, you are helping to provide compassionate hospice care for families across Aroostook County.
  • Share a short message about what you are doing, why it matters to you, and how much you appreciate the support. A few simple, personal sentences can make a big difference.
  • You are not asking for money for yourself. You are inviting others to support the Aroostook House of Comfort and the compassionate care it provides each day.
  • Post on your social media to help spread the word. Friends and family will want to support your efforts. You can connect your runsignup.com fundraising page directly to your Facebook page!
  • Reach out directly with a quick phone call or personal text message. A personal ask is often the most effective.
  • Some employers match donations made by employees. Encourage your friends to check with their HR department to see if their gift can go even further.
  • Ask your friends and family to give. You do not have to ask in person. Share your fundraising page on Facebook, use the email tool, or send the link directly. People want to help. You just need to ask.
