Race Day
The 5K will be capped as necessary.
There are no pacers for the 5K. Runners will self-seed in corrals based on estimated finish times. Corrals with pace signs will be marked in the start chute. The faster runners will be in the front, the slower runners will be in the back.
We encourage you to invite friends and family to cheer you on along the course, but they are only allowed to run with you if they are registered runners. Per USA Track & Field rules, elements that could impede the safety of runners, such as bikes, skates, skateboards, strollers and pets on the course, are not allowed. The safety of our runners is our number one priority. By signing or clicking ’I Accept’ on any Huey P. Long Bridge Run registration race waiver, you are agreeing to abide by the Rules of Competition.
Yes, music devices with headphones are permitted to use on the course; however, participants must be alert to their surroundings at all times and must pay attention to important announcements made at the start line and on the course.
Lost & Found is located near the awards area. After the event, please contact info@hueyprun.com to see if items were turned in. Clothing items left in the start areas and along the course are immediately donated to charity and are not kept in Lost & Found.
Gear Check
No. Due to parking being convenient to shuttle loading and the post-race party, gear check is not provided.
Parking
There is lots of free parking available in the Elmwood Shopping Center and surrounding areas near Packet Pickup. As always, please only park in legal parking spots and never on the grass.
Start & Finish
The race will start on the West side of the Mississippi River and will finish in front of the Ochsner Fitness Center on the East side of the Mississippi River. Shuttle buses will run BEFORE the start of the race so all runners should plan to park near the Ochsner Fitness Center and ride a shuttle to the start line.
Corrals are self-seeded for the 5K. Pace signs will be displayed in the starting chute to give runners an idea of where they should start based on their mile pace. Faster runners are near the front and slower paces are near the rear.
The easiest way to find your family and friends after the race is to have a plan beforehand. Picking an area near the post-race area or in the parking lot by your vehicle are good options.
