 Eunice Rotary Zydeco Triathlon

Race Date & Time:   Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 8:00 am

Race Address:         LSUE Natatorium / 2048 Johnson Hwy, Eunice, LA 70535

BIKE ROUTE - SMOOTH PAVEMENT FOR EXCELLENT BIKE COURSE.  RUN ROUTE THROUGH LSUE'S PRISTINE CAMPUS.

150 Meter pool swim/10 mile bike/2 mile run. Starting at the LSU-E natatorium and then traveling south turning west down  FOURNERAT ROAD, you will find the course fast and smooth. If you are a beginner you can get your feet wet at this fun, lively event on the Cajun Prairie. If you are a seasoned athlete, get your race season started and your blood pumping with the fast course and foot stomping Zydeco music.

Pool Swim: The race begins in the pool. There are 6 lanes and you will "snake" through each lane starting on one side of the pool, swim the length of the pool, cross the buoy to the next lane and swim the length of the pool the other way until you swim all six.

To stagger the racers, each participant will start at 10 second intervals. The Zydeco Triathlon partners with the very best timing company in Louisiana that will have a team member in the pool with you telling you when to start. During registration you will be asked to estimate your swim time. PLEASE give your most accurate estimate to prevent congestion on the swim.

You will then exit the pool and run to the transition area.  Once out of the water, the course is pretty wide open and you can enjoy the beautiful St. Landry and Acadia Parish countryside.

Once on your bike you will head out of the transition area and take a RIGHT onto Johnson HWY then right onto NEWLY PAVED Fournerat Road, travel 5 miles by bike then turn around and come back. Once back in transition you will then exit the transition area to the left entering LSUE's pristine campus for a beautiful out and back run with plenty of shade.

Spectator Tips:

You will be right outside the transition area and will have an excellent view of your favorite athletes. We ask that you please be mindful of the race marshals and racing lanes to keep the race as safe as possible. There will be a lot of first time or beginner triathletes at this race. A triathlon of any distance is a great accomplishment for anyone. The beginner triathletes as well as the veteran triathletes feed off of your excitement. Please cheer them all on.

The pre and post-race meal, including boudin and other surprises, is a favorite of past participants. Please schedule some time to stay for the awards ceremony, door prizes and post-race meal provided free by the Rotary Club of Eunice. This is a family event so bring the whole gang. You won't regret it. Come experience Cajun hospitality.
