New Date: TBD
For those of you who don't know me I'm Ray Campeau, the race director for the Jerseyman Triathlon and J-Man/Women swim. There are a few things I wanted to address and, given the importance of both topics, I wanted to deliver those messages myself.
First, I hope this message is finding you and your loved ones in good health and safety. These are unprecedented times that we are dealing with right now and I greatly appreciate your patience while we have been assessing the feasibility of having this race. Personally, I am a small business owner and have been hustling every single day to stay in business, put food on my family's table, and have also been committed to keeping my two races on. I have spent a significant amount of time and money planning for both events of which I will not be getting back.
However, it's hit the point where I realize I can not hold the Jerseyman Triathlon or J-man/Women swim this May 2020. Right now, social distancing and stay at home orders are in place until April 30th across the US. Even if those orders are lifted, I am fearful for everyone's health and safety if I held my event shortly after those dates given athletes have not been swimming or out on the rode biking in addition to spreading COVID further. This has not been an easy decision for me; the sport of triathlon saved my life growing up and I love giving back to the community with my events.
Because of this,I will be waiting a few months to decide what to do with the Jerseyman Triathlon.
1) A September race with dates of the 20th or 27th.
2) Defer to next May with a small administration fee.
I know if we are able to race by September the month will be filled with events and I will take this into account for my decision.
1) We will defer this event to next year with no fees at all.
I'm sure you're going to ask me why I am not offering refunds? Like most small races, there are no refunds , mine included. I've incurred costs already on the that I am not getting back such as insurance, medals, shirts.awards, and emergency support. In addition to the charities we give to every year. It's the behind the scenes expenses that at this point are also non-refundable.
If you're registered participant for this year's event you will be receiving updates via email on how we will proceed. Also please check the Facebook page.
Thanks for being a support for me and my races. Please keep practicing social distancing and stay at home orders so we can all race again.
Stay safe and healthy
