This inaugural event will take place on Saturday, June 28th in Old Forge, NY. The Quad-Athlon will start and finish at the George T. Hiltebrant Center (201 North St., Old Forge, NY). It will start with a 13 mile mtn/gravel bike on the Tobie Trail. The bike is followed by a hike up Vista Mountain, then a wooded trail run back to the Tobie Trail (4 miles) where you will reach the gravel road for a run to Rondaxe Road (2.6 miles) where you will put your kayak in and start your 5.4 mile padd;e down the beautiful Moose River journey. The kayak leg exits onto North Street, where it will be a quick and flat one mile run back to the Rec Center. Please check the website for updated course maps.
Technically the event doesn't end here...you will finish the amazing day of fun with a BBQ meal at Mountainside Smokehouse & Grill (5074 NY-28, Old Forge, NY) where your bike will be waiting for you. BBQ is free for all registered single entries, and one BBQ per team. The second person on a team is extra. Vegan/Vegetarian options will be available as well.

There will be kayaks to rent for the day if needed (Mountain Man Sports), you will have to email us to let us know. Specific event details (logistics) will follow. The Quad-Athlon will start at 8:30am. You will bike, hike, run, kayak a combined total of ~25 miles (13m bike, 1/2m hike, 6.8m running and 5.4m kayaking). Adventure awaits. Time to register, time to train!
Packet pick up- Before the adventure begins
How it all begins!
We will be holding a Friday evening packet pick up, June 27th 6pm-7pm. Location TBD. Come early and leisurely check in, get your swag and fill out forms. We highly recommend picking up your packet the night before the race. This will give you additional time to put your extra bib on your kayak and tag your bag to get it ready for morning drop off.
On Race day!
We will offer packet pick up from 6:45am - 7:45am. Location is George T Hiltebrant Recreation Center,
225 North St, Old Forge, NY 13420.
Then, we ask that you drop off your kayak at the kayak check in point on Rondaxe Road and come back to start the race.
Once you get back to the Rec center to start the race, we ask that you drop off your TAGGED bag (you will get a tag at packet pick up) and report to check in at the bike start (rec center area). We will need you to check in with the race starter to start the race. If you do not check in at the start of the bike race, you will not be eligible for timing and we can not account for you. This is very important. We will start checking people in at 8:15am and the bike race will not start until we check everyone in. If you are late, you need to check in with the starter still before heading out to the course. We will be making sure that you have a helmet and bibs are worn on the front also.
You will finish the race at the rec center so plan on parking there.
Timeline:
Friday, 6pm - 7pm, packet pick-up, location TBD in Old Forge
Saturday, 6:45am - 7:45am: race day packet pick-up
Saturday, 7:00am - 8:15am: kayak drop off on Rondaxe Rd, you will need to attach one of your bibs to kayak so stop by a packet pick-up first
Saturday, 8:15am - 8:30am: drop off bags at start and EVERYONE needs to check-in before the race (packet pick up doesn't count)
Saturday, 8:30am- Race starts!
Please be advised that we recommend bringing a cell phone with you during the race in case of emergencies & we will have emergency contact numbers on the bibs.
First Leg of the fun... BIKE!
Second leg, Hike! Hike up Vista Mountain with a trail run for roughly 4 miles
After getting off the bike and going on the hike, you will have the opportunity to use a restroom at the MountainSide BBQ. This will be your last chance at a restroom until the end of the race (unless you decide to use the woods). We will have a hydration station right before the hike starts/bike ends. This is where your bags will be staged for you & you will leave them here and pick them up after the race when you come to enjoy post-race BBQ and retrieve your bike.
And then, some unpaved road running for 2.6 more miles to get to your kayak!
About 1.5 miles into the run, you will find another hydration station.
Third leg, KAYAK! Kayak 5.4 miles with the current of the beautiful Moose River
Mountain Man Sports will have kayaks available for rent. They can be rented for a half day or a full day. Please contact them at 315-226-4197 to reserve one for this race.
Finally, Run a flat and fast 1 mile back to the Rec Center.
The final leg to the finish. Run back to the Rec Center to finish. Then, get your car and head to MountainSide BBQ to pick up your bike, bag & BBQ. We recommend picking up your kayak on the way to the BBQ.
