Important race information!!!

Rivercities participants

Thank you all for registering for the 40th Anniversary of the Rivercities Triathlon. We are very excited to back in racing mode here at Sportspectrum Race Management and we cannot wait to see you all at the race.

First things first - there is a bridge under construction that leads to Cypress Park. This bridge is on Linton Road and is approximately three miles from the entrance to the park. The bridge being under construction has created quite a detour that will add about 12-15 minutes extra to your commute to the race site on race morning. (see attached map) Please be mindful of this and adjust your morning plans accordingly. If you google map the park address 135 Park Drive, Benton, LA 71006 it shows that the bridge is out and does not take you onto Linton Road.

With the bridge being out this has also caused concerns with the Bossier Sheriff’s Department and with us that there will be more vehicles on some portions of the bike course, especially at the corner of Linton Cutoff and Hwy 162 (about mile 3 of the bike course) on race morning. So to help elevate some of the concerns and for the safety of the participants we have decided to start the race at 6:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. Hopefully by starting an hour earlier we can get the majority of the participants off of the bike course before the Sunday traffic gets too busy. We will be adding extra Sheriff’s Deputies at key areas along the route to also help with traffic issues.

We will be opening the gates to the park at 4:00 a.m. and transition will open at 4:30 a.m. We will have plenty of lighting for you where you park your car and in transition for you set up your equipment. At 5:40 a.m. we will start moving everyone out of transition towards the beach for the start of the race. Due to the fact that it will be very dark at this time of the morning you will not be allowed to take your bike out for a warm up ride around the park or out onto the roads, so make sure your bike is good to go the night before. You may go for a warmup run, just make sure you bring a flashlight or wear a reflective vest as there will be vehicles moving around the park. We do not want anyone getting hit.

We know starting at 6:00 a.m. means getting up a bit earlier, but it’s the only way we can have the race. Please plan accordingly and make preparations before race morning to get to the race in plenty of time to get set up and ready to go.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you on race morning.
