Description

***Update 1/23/2026 at 10:50am.

Race start time will be delayed from 10am to noon.  We will also be shortening the two race distances slightly.  The triathlon will now be a 5k run, 7.5k bike, and a 10k ski.  The duathlon will now be a 5k run and a 10k ski.

New (and hopefully fun) transition zone plan.  Please see posted map.  Transition will be indoors.  See details on the map.

Hosted by Mora Ski Club and Vasaloppet, USA.

Please note bib pick up will start at 8am on race day.  Transition will open at the same time.  There will be a brief racer meeting shortly before the start of the race at 10am.

Same day registration is allowed, but please note all registrations will need to be via Runsignup.  We will have a computer available if needed.  There will be no paper registrations.

Winter triathlon held on the pristine trails of the Vasaloppet nordic ski area.  Participants will run 5km, fat bike 15km, and ski 10km.  Skiing will be either skate or classic style.  Start and finish at the Nordic Center.  Minimum tire size for the bike will be 3.7" to ensure a good experience and minimize trail damage.

The Duathlon will be for those interested in a different race experience, but no need to bring a bike!  Participants will start at the same time and run the same 5km course.  You will then transition to skis of either skate or classic discipline and ski 15km.

Teams will consist of 2 or 3 participants.  If 2 people, person doing the first leg will then do the third leg.  Chip will need to be exchanged in the team transition area and securely affixed prior to leaving transition.

Transition Map: Transition Map

As you enter transition on the back side of the Nordic Center you will come inside, were you will be able to set up a small area to keep your bike and ski boots warm.  You will then exit on the front side of the Nordic Center, where you will pick up your bike after T1 and skis after T2 and head out on the trail.  You will only be allowed a small space inside for things like your shoes and gloves.  This twist has been added to make sure athletes have a space to keep vital warm weather gear warm before heading back out on the next leg of the event.

Run Course Map:  2026 tri run 5 km

Run will start at the same location as the finish in front of the Nordic Center.  The first 500 meters will be on a packed ski trail.  The final 500 meters will also be on a packed trail as you come back toward the transition area behind the Nordic Center.

Bike Course:  2026 tri bike - 7.5 km

Bike will consist of two loops.  A small portion of the bike course will be traveling along the same route as ski course so all participants should be aware.  The majority of the bike will be on a packed ski trail and will first head out to the far end of the ski trails and will be the rolling hills at Rogers Ridge.

Ski Course: 2026 tri 5 km ski

In an effort to keep the bike and ski separate, the ski will consist or 2 laps for the triathlon and 3 laps for the duathlon on a 5k course known to locals as Vasa Hills.
