We’re all in the midst of the most trying times in our lifetimes, and during this period of uncertainty we hope that everyone is practicing good social distancing especially during these next couple of crucial weeks.
We’re now in the month of April, which is typically the beginning of triathlon season. As you’re aware, last month we announced the postponement of both the Azalea Triathlon and our spring White Lake triathlon festival until 2021. Today we are announcing the formal postponement of the Lake Norman State Park Triathlon and the Pinehurst Triathlons (Sprint & International) until 2021.
These are unprecedented times and we appreciate your patience and grace as we travel these uncharted waters. We appreciate your business and have modified our existing policies to create several options to give you maximum flexibility in your 2020-21 racing season. Although we are not offering a refund option we are offering three options which we have found to be some of the most generous in the endurance industry. We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
OPTION #1 - Transfer to an equivalent race in 2020. (Transfer sprint to sprint, international to international or half to half). You may transfer your registration anytime during the 2020 triathlon season. Transfer Instructions.
OPTION #2 - Defer your 2020 to the same race in 2021. You do not need to do anything at this time, you will be sent instructions on redeeming your 2020 race when registration opens on November 1, 2020.
OPTIONS #3 - Transfer to a similar distance race in 2021. You do not need to do anything at this time, you will be sent instructions on redeeming your 2020 race when registration opens on November 1, 2020.
USAT One Day Fees: If you purchased a USAT One Day Fee we are working with USAT to re-activate codes for one day fee usage should you decide to transfer to another event. Please be patient as this process may take some time.

In 2020, we will offer a Sprint distance race in addition to the traditional International distance triathlon.
The International will start at 8AM - the Sprint will start at 9AM.
NEW for 2020 - "No Shirt/No Swag" Registration Option
For 2020, participants will have the option of registering for a race at a discounted price and NOT receiving the race shirt and any “swag” given away at the race. If you opt to do this, select the registration category that fits you (Individual or AquaBike), and when you get to the stage during this registration process where you pick your t-shirt size – you’ll see a “No Shirt/No Swag” option – and the discounted amount.
If by chance, at a later date, you decide that you'd like to have the race shirt or swag, you'll be able to purchase a race shirt and the swag at the race site following the conclusion of the race. Be aware, that should you do this, the items will cost more than by purchasing them when you register.
1) Anyone registering after 5/2 - WILL NOT receive a race shirt or swag
2) Relay teams do NOT have this “No Shirt/No Swag”option. All relay team members will automatically receive shirts and swag.
Packet Pick-Up will be held at the race site at the following times:

Friday (5/15): 4:00PM - 7:00PM
Saturday (5/16): 6:00AM - 7:30AM (International)
Saturday (5/16): 7:00AM - 8:00AM (Sprint)
NOTE: If you're racing in the Sprint - you still need to arrive no later than 8AM due to the start of the International at 8:00AM.
Important things to remember:
• A photo ID is required for packet pick-up.
• Cash, Check or Credit Card are accepted.
• All participants must pick up their own race packet. (Including all relay team members)
• USA Triathlon requires that all annual members must show their USAT membership card at packet pick-up.
• Any USAT annual member who does not present his/her valid membership card at packet pick-up,
will be required to pay the USAT one-day fee of $15. No exceptions.
A participant orientation meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 15th at the Gazebo on the beach. We will cover as many details as possible about the race and questions will be encouraged. A representative from USA Triathlon will also be on hand to discuss USAT issues and concerns relative to rules and safety. This meeting should last about 30 minutes - we encourage everyone to attend.
