Description
Rome-Utica Team Red White and Blue (RWB) is sponsoring a Bike-Run-Bike duathlon combining mountain biking and running on June 25th, 2016. The race is a 4 mile bike, 3.4 mile run and 4 mile bike that starts and ends in Bellamy Harbor Park in Rome, NY. The race course follows the Erie Canal and the surface will be paved and dirt trail. The difficulty of the course is easy to moderate and is open to the public. Cyclocross and mountain bikes will race in separate categories. 2 person teams are allowed to split the bike and run. There is also a free kid’s run and bike fun race prior to the duathlon of approximately ½ mile total.
RWB’s goal is to raise awareness of the organization and grow our membership of veterans and the general public. Raising money for our organization is NOT our goal. The cost of registration purchases shirts and medals and directly supports the event to purchase items needed to make it successful such as water, food, safety equipment, and portable toilets. Race organizers and supporters are all volunteers.
Team Red White and Blue (RWB) is a non-profit, national organization. Our mission is to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Our chapter establishes local programs that provide consistent opportunities for veterans to meet other veterans and members of their community through activities like running, cycling, kayaking, bowling, hiking, picnics, and ball games. We are committed to building communities and programs that support our veteran population.
