Description
The Friends of Promised Land State Park are pleased to hold the inaugural CCC Day Run-Paddle Duathlon on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Promised Land State Park (PLSP). The Friends mission is to work in partnership with the PLSP management to conserve, support, and advocate for Promised Land State Park’s natural and cultural resources by promoting education, recreation, and stewardship of this park.
This fundraiser is promoted by the Friends of Promised Land State Park for the benefit of our 501(c)(3) non-profit. All proceeds support recreation, education, and conservation at Promised Land State Park.
Athletes will run a 5k (3.1 miles) and then paddle for 1-mile in their kayak, SUP, or canoe. Runners will go out and back on North Shore Road, then through the Pines Campground, and into the transition area at the "Day Use Area" where they will then paddle out and back in their kayak, SUP, or canoe for one mile on Promised Land Lake.
This is a timed "Fun Race" for adults only (age 18 and over) that shows off our beautiful State Park using a scenic park road and Promised Land Lake. All participants registered by July 18 will be guaranteed an event t-shirt and finisher medal. All participants will receive free snacks and hydration.
The following requirements must be met per PLSP and DCNR rules: athletes must wear a PFD while paddling and have a safety whistle on their person. Athletes not abiding by these requirements will be disqualified with no refund.
Online registration ends on August 7 at midnight or when we have reached 100 participants. There will be no day-of registration. The fee is $40 before July 19; price increases to $50 on July 19.
If you do not wish to participate, but would like to make a donation of $25, we will give you an event shirt. Donations must be received by July 18. Shirts may be picked up at the PLSP office Friday evening between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, or on Saturday, August 9, at the Friends table during CCC Day festivities between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Athletes must be at the start line by 7:50 AM for the 8:00 AM start. Allow 30 minutes to drop off your kayak/SUP/canoe and gear at the main beach area, go to the designated parking area, use the restroom, and then walk to the start. Athletes picking up their race day packet on race morning, should report to the day use area between 6:30 and 7:00 am. Restrooms are available at the day use/main beach as well as at the parking area.
