Running for a Hero
On October 3, 2018, the Florence and Darlington Community lost a coach, mentor and hero. Sergeant Terrence F. Carraway was fatally shot while responding to assist three Florence County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Sgt. Carraway dedicated his life to serving others and giving back to his community. Along with serving in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years and the Florence Police Department for 30 years, Sgt. Carraway served as a football coach at Darlington Middle School and Darlington High School from 2005-2011.
Sgt. Carraway had a major impact on the lives of many and his legacy will forever shine through those he inspired.
The Terrence F. Carraway Foundation will strive to continue his vision of service to the community. He believed that both members of the community, law enforcement and first responders, can learn through service, communication, athletics, and education.
