The San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon is an award-winning loop course along some of the best of San Diego’s coastline. Experience beautiful beaches to picturesque bays, you’ll run past SeaWorld, Belmont Park, Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and Sail Bay — the best of San Diego in one unforgettable course. With only 165 feet of total elevation gain, this is one of California’s flattest and fastest half marathons — perfect for chasing a personal record or enjoying the ultimate destination race in San Diego.
Half Marathon starts at 6:30am. 10K starts at 7:15am. 5K starts at 7:30am.
Yes! Half Marathon finishers will receive a different medal than the 5K & 10K participants.

Yes, they can. They will need a copy of your ID in order to pick up your packet for you. A photo of your ID on their phone is acceptable.
While all entry fees are non-refundable, there are several options:

You can defer your registration to next year's 2027 race for a $40 transfer fee for the half marathon or $25 transfer fee for the 10K and 5K races. Visit your Profile page, and then under "Upcoming Events", select the "Manage Registration" link next to San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon. Then under "My Registration" select "Defer Registration". This option is available through April 5, 2026.

You can switch to the virtual race, if you would be able to run on a later date this year. Just let us know (info@gobeyondevents.com) and we'll update your registration for you; there is no charge through March 31. Beginning April 1 there will be a $15 event transfer fee, and the last day to switch your registration to the virtual race is April 20, 2026.

You can transfer your registration to another runner. This can be done online through April 1st by visiting your Profile page, and then under "Upcoming Events", select the "Manage Registration" link next to San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon. Then choose "Transfer to Someone Else", and enter their name and email address. Upon them completing their registration they will be charged the $10 transfer fee.

You can receive a refund if you purchased event insurance thru Fanshield; If so, you can apply for a refund with Fanshield here.
YES you can switch distance! There is no charge to change your distance. If you are transferring UP in distance you will be charged the difference in registration fees. If you are transferring DOWN in distance, there is no refund.

Yes absolutely, with a $20 convenience fee. To avoid lines, we strongly encourage attending early packet pickup on Thursday or Friday before race day if you.
To have your packet available for pickup on race day visit your Profile page, and then under "Upcoming Events", select the "Manage Registration" link next to San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon. Then on the next screen under "My Registration" select "Add-Ons" and then for "Race Day Packet Pickup" change the quantity dropdown to "Yes" and then click Continue.
San Diego is typically mild mid-April. Historically the temperature range is 54 - 72 degrees.
Strollers are allowed in the 5K and 10K only. Children under the age of 2 in a stroller do not need to register for the race. Please note that unregistered children will not receive a bib, shirt or finisher medal. Due to safety concerns, strollers, unauthorized bicycles, motorized vehicles and wheelchairs are not permitted on the half marathon course.
We love dogs too, but unfortunately our Mission Bay permit does not allow for dogs. Service dogs excepted.
Yes — our Half Marathon course is USATF certified.
Yes — located every 1–2 miles with water, electrolytes, and basic first aid.
Portable restrooms are available at the start, finish, and along the course.
Yes — chip timed using BibTag Timing.
Photos will be posted within 72 hours after the race. A link will be emailed to you and will also be on the home page.
You can transfer your bib to another runner for a $10 transfer fee. This can be done online through April 5. Click HERE to learn how. After April 6 the bib transfer must be done at the Runner’s Expo or on race day. Please go to the Solutions Booth to complete your transfer. You will need a copy of the original participant’s registration confirmation in order to complete the transfer.
A commemorative shirt, medal, bib, timing, and your first beer is on us in the Bayside Beer Garden.

The time limit to complete the half marathon is 4 hours. For the 10k you have 2 hours, and the 5k is 90 minutes.

The San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon needs amazing volunteers to assist with water stations, registration, pre-race check in, festival area set-up & break-down, cheering the runners on, and more. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt, snacks and water, lots of smiles from the participants and endless high fives! Yes! Gear check will be available near the registration booth.
San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon, 5K, and 10K will take place rain or shine. However, if conditions are determined by city officials to be unsafe for any reason, the race will be rescheduled to a new date or to a virtual run. No refunds will be made.
In the event that the San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon, 5K/10K is unable to take place as scheduled, all participants will be transferred to a virtual race event and will receive an official race bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and legacy items (for those who are Legacy Club members).
All the parking lots that we provide for the events have free parking.
There is no age limit on the 5K & 10K runs. However, you must be at least 13 years of age to participate in the Half Marathon.
