Walk & Run with Valor!

Success is Your Finish Line
The "Sofa to Screenland 5K" training program is a welcoming community where safety, support and success is everyone's finish line. Accomplished running coaches David Winslow, Craig Schoenbaum, and Hamid Rostamian will lead complimentary training sessions at Culver City High School Olympic track starting this Fall. These one-hour sessions, perfect for newcomers or those returning to exercise, will help you complete your 3.1-mile adventure through cinematic wonder on March 1 in good health. "As a flat, fun, and family-oriented hometown event around the studios, the Screenland 5K is an easy entry to an active lifestyle. Our sessions develop camaraderie and great health. We're not here to set world records," said Winslow. Training sessions are sponsored by Midwest Roofing.

Let's Run Together
Lace up, show up, and begin your journey into vintage, velvet and valor with complimentary workouts, starting in the Fall. Wear comfortable clothes and running shoes, advises trainer David Winslow. Workouts will encompass goal setting, stretching, warm-ups, jogging, and cool-downs, said Winslow, a legacy Screenland 5K runner and multiple age group marathon winner. Personal trainer Craig Schoenbaum said the workouts are designed to improve strength, flexibility, and stamina. Follow Winslow's tips in the Screenland 5K TRAINING GUIDE.

Stay Motivated
If you formed a Screenland 5K team or joined one, why not train together at the Sunday sessions or in other ways to stay motivated and accountable. The Leggers, led by mentor John Flynn, Culver City Running Club, guided by Ed Dorio and Peg Rainey, bike outings conducted by Councilmember Freddy Puza, and local health clubs can get your ready for race day.

Let's Warm Up
You've put in the work to prepare for the Screenland 5K, so let's warm-up on race morning. Olympic Gold Medalist Lashinda Demus, Dion "Blast" Jackson and Zumba® Instructor Julie Schatz will keep your legs moving on race day, March 1.
