What does “hospice” mean to you?
From our humble beginnings as an all-volunteer organization inspired by Dr. Elizabeth Kübler-Ross—a pioneering figure in the fields of death and dying—Hospice of the Chesapeake has evolved significantly over the years. While our early focus was on serving those in the moment, today we emphasize a more streamlined and efficient approach, with a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers. Despite this growth, we remain deeply rooted in our mission: to provide quality, compassionate care at the heart of all we do.
Our Mission
Caring for life throughout the journey with illness and loss.
Our Vision
We strive to help individuals and families facing progressive, serious illness to reimagine hope—living each day with intention and peace—while ensuring our nonprofit organization remains a vital resource for future generations.
Our Values
Courage: Exercising moral strength in the face of uncertainty.
Excellence: Transcending today’s standards through innovation and imagination.
Service: Providing consistent care for others with respect, integrity, and pride.
Empowerment: Understanding and representing the complex needs of all.
Since 2020, we have invested and expanded care for the residents of Charles County including:
- Expanding access to hospice care with a 143% increase in patients care for daily.
- Launch of community based Supportive Care in Charles County and the opening of the Hussman Supportive Care Center on Davis Road in Waldorf.
- Opened a Clinical Education Center including a hands-on skills lab for team members advanced training and experiential learning.
- Enhanced partnerships with local Hospitals and Nursing Centers ensuring a full continuum of care for patients and families.
- Revitalized the Charles Inpatient Care Center enhancing patient and family experiences with refreshed spaces and new technology.
Proceeds from the event will remain in Charles County, ensuring dignity, compassion, and care for every patient, every family, and every community member who turns to us for care. Creating moments that matter
Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) is a non-profit organization that brings people together to experience the joy, excitement, and thrill of competition. ASA offers innovative athletic training, supportive mentor relationships, and high quality endurance events for athletes living with disabilities. ASA uses athletic activity as a catalyst for personal development—improving physical fitness, increasing self-esteem and empowering challenged youth to meet their highest potential. We inspire all people to give of themselves and live more active lifestyles, pursuing a high quality of life and achievement. Our WINGMAN Program is specifically designed to empower ASA athletes living with little to no mobility, but whose hearts hold the desire to race in mainstream running events, the opportunity to compete. Each of these ASA athletes is supported by his or her own unique WingMan Team. We look to volunteers to raise money and awareness for Athletes Serving Athletes serving as a WingMan or a member of the ASA Road Crew which does not physically “push” an athlete.
