In 2005, 250 participants turned out for the inaugural “Race Against Hunger” which led runners and walkers through downtown Visalia on early Thanksgiving Morning. Now in its 21st year, this Visalia tradition hosts over 5000 participants and has become the largest race in the Central Valley! Family, friends, businesses, churches, and civic clubs are collaborating as a community to raise the funds needed to keep our food pantry shelves stocked with nutritious foods and snacks. 

This Visalia tradition is a morning where you will see many creative costumes, enjoy a visit with your family and friends, and count all the reasons you are thankful! 100% of the registration fees directly benefit VEA’s community programs. VEA’s Board of Directors, staff, and an incredible army of volunteers are committed to staying focused on our vision, “A Hunger-Free Community”!
