Just minutes from historic Williamsburg, VA and next door to the original Jamestown Settlement, the Patriots Triathlon is a great end of season race. With Long Course, Olympic and Sprint options available there is a distance for everyone. The time trial swim takes place at beautiful Jamestown beach where you can watch Osprey catch their breakfast or see a pod of dolphins swim along the course. The bike course is flat, fast and parallels the Cap-Cap bike trail along Rt. 5 with the Long Course quickly getting into the rural parts of Charles City County. The run course is simply amazing as it winds through historic farmland and forest on a combination of bike paths and jogging trails. Be sure to stay for the weekend to experience all that the greater Williamsburg area has to offer, including the new Billsburg Brewery, the Jamestown Settlement and so much MORE.
In 2023 this race is part of the USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series is the premier national-level racing circuit for new and emerging paratriathletes in the United States.

Any athlete who participates in a minimum of five (5) 2023 Kinetic Multisports events will qualify for Kinetic Cup Series scoring and qualifier rewards.
The tiered qualifier system will work as follows:
Stage 1 Qualifier: Q3 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 3 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a Race for the Kinetic Cup Silicone Swim Cap at Packet Pick Up!
Stage 2 Qualifier: Q5 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 5 Kinetic Multisports events will eligible for Kinetic Cup Series awards and will receive a Race For the Kinetic Cup Special Beach Towel!
Stage 3 Qualifier: Q10 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 10 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a custom Kinetic Multisports Qualifier Jacket! (Your custom jacket will be mailed to you after the season). Pictured is the 2022 Q10 Jacket, this jacket is different each year.
Race For the Kinetic Cup Series Awards – Each athlete placing in the top 5 of each age group or category (with 5 races) will receive a special award. Awards differ from year to year!
In 2023, the USA Paratriathlon National Championships will take place Sept. 10 in Williamsburg, Virginia, in conjunction with the Patriots Triathlon Festival.
The USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series is the premier national-level racing circuit for new and
emerging paratriathletes in the United States.
Any athlete wishing to compete in the USA Paratriathlon Development Race Series must have a USA
Triathlon National Classification or a World Triathlon Classification of a “C” or “R” or “P” and be 16 years
of age or older as of December 31, 2022. These athletes should register for the races in their respective
Sport Classes: PTWC 1-2, PTS 2-5, or PTVI 1-3. If you are not yet classified, you may compete in the sport

Paratriathlon Development Series Race Category Descriptions:
PTWC 1-2: athletes with limitations in lower (PTWC2) and upper body (PTWC1), using a
handcycle for the cycling segment and a racing chair for the running segment.
PTS 2-5: athletes with limitations in lower and/or upper limbs (lower class number means there
are more limitations) who compete in (regular) cycling and running. Assistive devices such as
prosthetic legs and/or bike modifications can be used.
PTVI 1-3: athletes with vision impairment, subdivided in three classes by severity of vision loss
(visual acuity and/or visual field).
PC Open Race Category Descriptions:
PC Open athletes are welcome to race in these races. PC Open (Physically Challenged Open) athletes are
paratriathletes who are not able to be classified or choose to use equipment that doesn’t follow
Paratriathlon Competition Rules.
PC Open athletes are not eligible for Series awards, however, will be recognized in the PC Open Series
Standings.

Time Trial Swim Start: Kinetic Multisports races utilize a time trial swim start. We'll start two (2) athletes at a time every few seconds. Athletes line up based on swim and overall finish times, faster up front, slower in the back to create a smoother race for everyone.
Elite Box Start: In conjunction with our time trial swim starts we are excited to announce the official addition of the Elite Box Start at select races. If you are in contention to get Top 20 Overall Male/Female or just want to race up front, this is for you. Simply work your way to the front of the swim start area on race day. We'll get you lined up and started first, then athletes two at time every few seconds thereafter. The Elite Box Start concept worked well at many races last year and we are excited to add this feature to more races.
Do you need to rent a wetsuit?
The water temperature for this race has been wetsuit legal the past. 2022-82F, 2021-76/74F, 2019-80F, 2018-86F, 2017-74, 2016-81F, 2015-81/77F
When the water temperature is 84F or above wetsuits are NOT allowed.
When the water temperature is between 78.1F - 83.9F you may wear a wetsuit but you are not eligible for awards or ranking points. (You will be placed in a wetsuit category for the results)
When the water temperature is 78F or below wetsuits are allowed but not required.
When the water temp is 60.8F or below wetsuits are mandatory.
