Flatside Aid Station

May 18, 2024

Details

This is the first of two aid stations for the Catsmacker. It serves the Cat only (not the Kitty). This aid station also helps direct runners up to the 2nd summit at Flatside, so will need to place signs and potentially send extra volunteers up the Flatside summit spur to provide directions.

Location

Intersection of FSR 94 and Ouachita Trail (where the road opens up to a parking area, has the “Flatside Wilderness” sign, and has the spur up to the overlook). NOT the same location as the Traveller AS. Set up near the Vista Point sign, since that’s where runners will be going… (it might be shadiest there anyway).

Brown Creek Aid Station

May 18, 2024

Details

This is the 2nd Aid station for the Catsmacker, and the only full-service aid station for the Kitty.

Location

Intersection of Brown Creek Rd and the OT crossing. (same place as the Traveller AS).
Driving Directions: From the AR10/AR 324 junction, go 1.65 miles down 324 to Brown Creek Road on the right. (It’s the next right after Blue Jay Hollow Rd.) Then, 3.8 miles down Brown Creek Rd is the intersection of the Ouachita Trail. The OT sign will be on your left, and there’s a 2-car parking inlet on your right.

Mobile Aid Station/Sag Wagon

May 18, 2024

Details

Provide intermediate water/support in between aid stations. Will need a vehicle that is drive-able on forest service roads and can haul aid station supplies. Pick up any runners in need.

Location

Mobile, in different locations on course. Most likely the FSR 132/Northside spur, and the Brown Creek Rd/AR 324 intersection.

Course Sweepers

May 18, 2024

Details

Sweepers start about 30 minutes ahead of the race and help runners with directions through the first summit at Northfork. They then wait for the race to go by and identify the last runners. Follow the last runners into the finish, and pick up flagging/signage along the way. Sweepers are essential to safety because they are the first to see and help runners who are having trouble. Sweepers go the distance!

Details

This position is harder than it sounds! Runners are pumped to see the finish line, and it's your job to make sure that you get their name, bib #, race distance, and finish time as they fly by in a blur. That's alot of info, and it happens fast!

This volunteer task is full.

Details

The best part of Catsmacker is hanging out at the finish. We need help grilling burgers/dogs, keeping the serving area tidy/organized, keeping trash contained, and providing a fun atmosphere. We provide all of the burgers, we just need your help to flip & serve 'em! Bonus if you have a kickass post-race playlist.
