Transition Area Volunteer

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Under the direction of the transition area coordinator, help monitor the transition area, check bikes, answer athlete questions, and direct athletes during the race.

Kayak Support

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

For experienced kayakers with access to a stable sea kayak. PFD required. Kayaks are positioned inside and outside the 400-yard swim course off of Pemaquid Beach, keeping an eye out for swimmers who may be struggling or off course. Kayakers act as immediate visual markers, provide resting platforms (swimmers may hold a kayak to rest without disqualification, provided they don't make forward progress), and direct swimmers. If further assistance is required, 2-3 rescue boats and 2 lifeguards are standing by.

Beach Volunteer

Details

Under the direction of the swim coordinator, help direct athletes and spectators on the beach. Assist with lining up and starting swimmers, and ensure there is a clear path to the transition area when they exit the water.

Park Volunteer

You must be 11 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Help direct both athletes and vehicles inside Pemaquid Beach Park, and keep their paths from crossing. A carrying voice is helpful!

Inside Pemaquid Beach Park: at the boardwalk, in the parking area, and at the park entrance

Bike Route Volunteer

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Drive to one of several specified locations along the bike route to encourage cyclists, indicate turns or hazards, and call for assistance if requested by a participant. Safety vest provided. Must be able to drive or arrange to get a ride.
